Is your laundry room in need of a makeover? Has it become cluttered and in need of a little love? A laundry room has a way of collecting clutter—piles of dirty clothes, random coats and shoes—that can quickly become an eyesore. It’s easy to shut the door and pretend it doesn’t exist.

This week clean your laundry room from top to bottom and organize the space for functionality. If you don’t have a laundry room, clean out the area where you keep your laundry supplies.

Begin by washing, drying and folding all clothes and putting away all of your laundry. Everything but your washer and dryer should be emptied out of the space.

Purge– Purge anything that doesn’t belong in that space. Empty the trash, toss empty detergent bottles, donate unwanted clothes. If you haven’t used something in 9 to 12 months- toss it. It’s more than likely you don’t need and it’s just taking up extra space.

Clean – Pull out your washer and dryer and vacuum behind. Run your washing machine without any clothes, on a hot cycle, using two cups of vinegar to keep your machine fresh and clean inside. Clean out the dryer vent and wipe down the outside of the washer and dryer. Wipe everything down- shelving, walls, baseboards, doors, and remember to dust the light.

Organize – Now that your laundry room is clean, it’s time to put everything away. Use baskets and bins to organize your laundry supplies. Label each container for proper placement.

Decorate – Now comes the best part. Finally, you can decorate your laundry room to make it more inviting. Hang shelfs, signs, or pictures on the wall to really make the room feel like a place you’d like to spend time and make doing laundry more enjoyable.
