Our Pet Plus™ cycles project was born out of our team’s love of pets and the joy they bring to us each day. Over the next few months, we’ll be posting the stories of the pets who inspired the idea. Today, we’ll meet two special cats named Bug and Bob.
The first thing to know about Bug and Bob is that they are inseparable. The pair was adopted by Tyler Hautamaki last summer from the Fond du Lac Humane Society.
Tyler, a process control technician at Alliance Laundry Systems, and his fiance were searching online for cats needing a new home when they came across Bug. Instantly, Tyler knew Bug would be the perfect addition to their family, but there was one catch. Bug had to be adopted with his buddy Bob. Bob just so happened to also be the name of Tyler’s grandfather. Seeing it as a sign, he and his fiance went in to meet the dynamic duo and the rest, as they say, is history.
Although Bug and Bob are more than three-and-a-half years apart, they still love to play with each other. Tyler said Bug and Bob are both super snuggly, but they both have a bit of a mischievous side, too.
Bob has a knack for jumping on curtains and climbing to the top, which often leads to one of two things: wrecked curtains or a cat stuck on a curtain rod. Tyler has also had to modify the household’s bedtime routines because every night around 9:30 p.m., Bob decides it’s time to run wild around the house. However, since the bedroom door is usually closed, Bob likes to let Tyler know it’s time to run around by pawing repeatedly at the door, and anyone who’s had a cat knows how obnoxious that can be. (You’re probably even hearing it in your head right now.)
Some of Bug and Bob’s favorite toys are little foam mice, any kind of string on a rod and, of course, cat treats.
One of the most surprising things about Bug and Bob, Tyler said, is how quickly he and his fiance got attached to them. It had been 20+ years since Tyler had a cat, so he wasn’t quite sure what to expect.
“It didn’t feel like that much at first, but they’re part of our family now,” Tyler said.
Tyler did have some parting words of wisdom though for all new and soon-to-be cat owners: “Watch your curtains.”
