Our Pet Plus™ cycles project was born out of our team’s love of pets and the joy they bring to us each day. Over the next few months, we’ll be posting the stories of the pets who inspired the idea. Today, we’ll meet Ginger.
Ginger is Jules’ 11-year-old Tabby cat who is the center of the room whenever she comes around. You can’t miss her orange mane, which is exactly how she got the name, Ginger.
Ginger was brought home by Jules’ daughter Caitlyn. Caitlyn found the feline in a large farm area and, after a teary-eyed phone call about finding a lost kitten, Jules agreed that Ginger could come home.
“Caitlyn called us just CRYING, saying there’s this kitten who is getting picked on by the other cats that are around,” Jules said. “Caitlyn said ‘She’s really little, can I please bring her home?’ Of course, she knew I was going to say yes – I’m the animal person in our family.”
Shortly after Ginger got settled into her new home, she found her new favorite toy – a big stuffed dog about the size of herself. Ginger would try to drag the toy around everywhere with her, Jules said, even though she could barely move it.
There was one time early on when Ginger was trying to get into her carrier where she sleeps and, for about three minutes, Ginger was trying to figure out how to maneuver herself to bring the dog in with her.
“She would walk around with this dog in her teeth and had to have legs on either side, but she’d carry it everywhere,” Jules said.
Although Caitlyn was the one who found Ginger and brought her to her new home, Jules said she and Ginger had an instant connection. Wherever Jules is, Ginger is sure to be nearby. If Jules is on her computer, Ginger is likely under the desk. If Jules is in her workshop using power tools, Ginger is still right by her side.
“I call her my snuggly supervisor,” Jules said. “She’s always hanging over my shoulder seeing what I’m doing.”
